Hand crafted chest of drawers believed to originate in 1875-1895. Original removable marble dresser top, likely an Italian White Cararra, with beveled edges. Drawers show hand cut dovetail joinery set into grooves. Original finish has likely been maintained with centuries of waxing and honest wear – darkening, oxidation and uneven sheen.

The Eastlake design movement is named after Charles Eastlake, an English designer whose book Hints on Household Taste (1868) promoted honest craftsmanship over the excessive ornamentation seen in Victorian furniture.
